We've seen enough.

Here are the undisputed flops of the season.

The Oklahoma City Whoopee Cushions: The Thunder nickname is so out of it, they couldn't even come up with a mascot.

Our suggestion of the Rounders was a thousand times better and could have been beautifully illustrated.

The Bowl Cheating Series (BCS): If Texas goes over OU, each with one loss, it will be the biggest miscarriage of justice in global sports history.

Our eight-team playoff solution is so simple. You match the winners of the six major conferences, plus two others, in the middle of December, when school is out, no class is missed, best teams get the home games, just like in the real sports world.

The four winners play in two major bowls, rotate them each year.

There's a fair and balanced national championship game two weeks later, the bowl system survives, the greedy get richer, somebody wake up.

Dexter: Once great TV shows become popular, they frequently turn to junk. This previously intriguing series about a homicidal maniac forensics cop has tilted toward unbelievable slapstick.

Dr. Lou: Sounds like a warped fortune cookie out of the 60s.

ESPN: Shame on anybody who lets these pinheads manipulate him or her. It's a good thing ESPN is a monopoly, otherwise nobody would watch as anchors and reporters attempt to sway viewers and voters toward their best interests, like the Heisman show.

The Shield: This formerly brilliant cop show has turned into a cheap thug-fest.

Big 12 defensive teams: The two best defensive teams are USC and Alabama, and neither runs the spread offense, which proves that you practice what you preach.

If you run the spread, your defense apparently has to turn to mush.

Dwight the idiot at Dunder Mifflin: Makes Scranton look bad.

PICKS

Tonight

The Jets at New England (-4): The old ex-Packer guy could wind up with ice water on his veins if the weather interacts.

New England by 6.

Friday

Cincinnati (-3 1/2) at Louisville: Cincy could wind up in a BCS headline bowl.

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, we rest our case against the Bowl Cheating Series.

Cincy by 3.

Saturday

Oklahoma State (-17 1/2) at Colorado: Colorado plays just like a Pac-10 pansy, talks big and opts for finesse.

O-State is said to covet the Cotton Bowl.

Somebody must be kidding.

The Cotton Bowl sounds like about as much fun as a round of ice fishing.

OSU by 17.

Tulsa (-5) at Houston: Second half of a fine mixed sports doubleheader, TU to host ORU at hoops in the afternoon, loser in that one, more or less done for the year.

At football, TU says it wants another shot at a SEC team, proving talk, like common stock, is cheaper than ever. You just had a shot at the SEC and ran quadruple reverses off triple-pitch guard-eligible halfback option passes.

Houston by 2.

North Carolina (-2 1/2) at Maryland: Could be another Bowl Cheating Series bid handed out to the poor.

NC by 4.

Texas (-13) at Kansas: No salad days on KU gridiron.

Texas by 16.

Arizona at Oregon (-3 1/2): Talk about an easy gig, Stoops Extra Strength only has to hit a finger bowl every four years to retain control.

Oregon by 6.

South Carolina at Florida (-22): The Bowl Cheating Series finale should be the Florida-Alabama winner versus Texas. Florida would defeat Texas 35-10. Alabama would defeat Texas 17-10.

Here, Florida by 26.

Nebraska (-6 1/2) at Kansas State: Brrrr pretty much says it all.

K-State by 2.

Notre Dame (-3) versus Navy: Notre Dame is back. Way, way back.

Navy by 3.

Sunday

Denver at Atlanta (-4): Shanahan couldn't coach our dog to a bone.

Atlanta by 6.

Baltimore at the Giants (-5 1/2): Too violent for children unless an adult is in the room.

Giants by 6.

New Orleans (-5 1/2) at Kansas City: NO quarterback has a bigger mouth than arm.

NO by 9.

San Diego at the Steelers (-3): Norv Turner couldn't coach our dog to a bacon cheeseburger.

Steelers by 5.

Dallas at the Redskins (-2 1/2): With the quarterback and the coach never having won a playoff game, and with an owner who builds stadiums better than he builds teams, Dallas is about where it should be.

Washington by 1.

Monday

Cleveland at Buffalo (-5 1/2): Only zero visibility could save this; otherwise that will describe the ratings.

Buffalo by 9.

Texas is ahead of OU because the Longhorns beat them head to head, which is a tiebreaker used in every district, division and conference since the beginning of time. Win the game and then you can complain.

This is the worst "Picker" article I've ever read. An 8 team playoff with the winner of each major conference? Even though the BCS top 10 is loaded with Big XII south teams? So leave OU, Texas, OSU out (assuming Tech wins out) of the playoff? Dumb, just plain dumb.

Any why are you writing about "Dexter, Dr. Lou and The Shield"? This is a sports article right?

And last but not least - why are you ALWAYS dogging ESPN? I bet you watch Sportscenter just as much or more than the average guy reading this article. You're jealous of them aren't you?

Does anyone remember that movie "Big Trouble"? It has Tim Allen, Renee Russo and Dennis Farina is a mob hitman? He has to listen to sports radio and the only thing the callers ever talk about is who is better: Gator fans versus Georgia fans (I think). The level of discourse in the responses to this column remind me of that. OU is better. Texas is better. OSU is better. Ad naseum.

As for the column: 15% substance, 45% repeat and 40% conjecture.

Right now Texas should be over OU. Last time I remember, OU got beat by the Longhorns. And no, TU will tame the Cougars at Houston this weekend. In basketball, a seson isn't determined after the first game of the season. TU vs. ORU should be a good game and should draw a great crowd if some of these lazy people get out of their houses. Oh yeah, you didn't say nothing about a game that will be played on ESPN tonight, Miami Hurricanes vs Va Tech. Watch out for those Canes, it seems they are getting their SWAGGER back!!!!!!!!

Harry, your Big 12 is the most overrated conference in the country. It should get one team in an eight-team playoff, same as the others. Outside of the Vince Young year, when was the last time the Big 12 did much of anything in the bowls? Which is about the only way you can measure teams under this lousy system. You think the Big 12 is good because of rankings? Rankings done by people who don't even see the games? If a Big 12 team plays any SEC team anywhere, we'll see who is best won't we.

And what about the most perfect playoff system ever dreamed up? Six major conferences, two mini-majors. Four games during the lull when school is out, no time missed; two playoff games on big bowl day; finals two weeks later. Rotate the two big bowls. What's the matter, don't you people know how to praise?

They need to do away with the automatic bids and invite the top 10 BCS rated teams to the big bowl game. Here is how it would break down if today was pairing day:

BCS National Championship game:
#1 Alabama vs. #2 Texas Tech

Orange/Fiesta/Sugar
#3 Florida vs. #4 Texas
#5 OU vs. #10 Georgia
#7 Utah vs. #9 Boise State

Rose (Keep the big 10/PAC 10 Homers happy with this matchup
#6 USC vs. #8 Penn State

Picker, how about you answer JT's question and tell us all why you have flip flopped and said that if Texas goes over OU it would be "the biggest miscarriage of justice in global sports history" when just last week you had that reversed. Really losing your credibility...

The Picker, Tulsa (11/13/2008 3:24:44 PM)
Coxy, you and JT are right, I seemed to have flop-flipped on that one. Sorry. What I meant to say was that with one loss each, Texas has to go to the title game instead of OU. The reasons are obvious. Tex won on a neutral field. And losing on a dropped inteception is better than getting soundly throttled in Dallas. It is clearly idiotic that in the coach's poll now, Texas is rated over OU, proving flunkies vote.

picker picker picker... tsk tsk - you're honestly saying to all the good people of Tulsa that the Big XII conference should not get any more teams into an 8 team playoff than the Big 10? One team from each??
Big XII is overrated???? I'll admit my Pokes "played" some horrible defense - ok they didn't play defense at all Saturday night. But tell me who from the Big 10 or the Pac 10 or the ACC or any of the other crap conferences (besides SEC) is going to beat Tech or OU or Texas??? None of them.

We'll praise you when it's worthy. This isn't worthy.

Playoff? YES!!!!
1 team from each major conference? NO!!!

Top 8 in BCS rankings is the only fair way to do it.

Oh Picker.
No wonder you think you are the best in all the land. You flip flop and confuse yourself enough that you think you got all the picks right by the end!
In your response to JT, which was about how you flip flopped the OU/TEXAS debacle, you did it again! OU is rated OVER Texas in the coaches poll. Wake up!
Also, your arguement that the SEC is better than the Big 12 is hogwash. Since we can not tell how good the Big 12 is (since you think they beat up on their overrated conference buds) how can we know they SEC is any better? The same argument could be made (which is much more likely) that after years of SEC love everyone thinks the SEC is the best. Look at Georgia for example, I doubted them in the beginning, and look where they are now.

Also, I love your short term memory. As I recall OU was beating Texas "soundly" until the end of the third when they lost Reynolds. Also, a 10 point victory when 7 of those came on a gimme kick return (ANY team is just as likely to run one back on OU this year, it was not a statement of TX ability) is a FAR cry getting "soundly throttled".

I am also interested in your logic of keeping OU behind TX, even if they win out. So, if TX TECH loses to OU, they should remain ahead of Texas since they have only one loss and they beat Texas? So then, what do you DO with OU? They can't be behind Tech since they beat Tech. Its a circle, you can't use logic sometimes and not others.

They need to bring Jay Cronley back as the picker, he was hilarious, this guy is not entertaining at all. I've seen people write it's Dave Sittler, but I doubt Sittler would pick ever K-State over Nebraska but then again maybe he thinks the Huskers are going to get upset.

I think Kansas has a good chance to shock Texas but for that to happen the Horns are gonna have to be sleepwalking. They have had their share of bad luck in the wheat state though...

If the Big 12 South does end in a tie then OU should go. Each team will have one loss to one another, but what team has wins over 2 current top 25 teams? OU does. Both have a chance to win thier conference and if Cinci does they are going to a BCS bowl. How could OU not be picked if the cards fall that way over the next 3 weeks? I vote for a 16 seed playoff. That would give the "little guy", ie non-BCS conf., a greater chance to compete.

I had to read your comment twice to confirm how dumb it was. That comment makes no sense. Actually look at the Top 25 and you'll agree.

If there is a three-way tie, you can bet Tech will be out b/c they will have the most recent loss. I doubt the Human Polls will put OU ahead of Texas because Texas proved they were better on the field. The Computer polls are the big unknown. By beating Tech, OU will actually devalue a win, in terms of the computer formulae, over OSU since they lost to Tech. I still think the Human polls, being 2/3rds of the makeup, will control in the end.

IMO: 3-Way tie = Texas goes to Big XII Champ

Plucker,

When it comes to talk being cheap, yours is the cheapest. You picked Houston to go over Tulsa last year. We all know what a little pearl of wisdom that pick turned out to be. More like a nugget...

Just plop back in your la-z-boy and watch some more bad TV. I hear "Funny Farm" is on this weekend...
