Signing day high school profile: Carlin Gibbs, Booker T. Washington

Carlin Gibbs had a long wait to sign with Southern Methodist after committing to the Mustangs soccer program in September 2006.

"I've been looking forward to this for more than a year," said Gibbs, who is a center-back.

Washington athletic director Antwain Jimmerson said about Gibbs' signing: "It's been a long time since TPS had someone sign to play women's major college soccer."

Gibbs received seven offers from major colleges before choosing the Mustangs, who have a rich soccer tradition.

"I chose SMU because of the soccer program and the business school," said Gibbs, who has a 3.7 grade-point average.
