Oklahoma: Three Storylines

The no-huddle: OU continues to experiment with a faster offense, with no clear idea how often Sam Bradford will run the ball.

"We'll wait as we go through the weeks, maybe in our opening games, and decide how much," offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson said. "Does it really look good and continue to snowball into a bigger part? Or maybe it doesn't."

Weakside linebacker: Last week was a trying one at one of the Sooners' most important positions. Redshirt freshman Austin Box, competing to start on the weak side, underwent knee surgery which will keep him out of the Aug. 30 opener against Chattanooga. That opened the door for Mike Balogun, but the junior-college transfer struggled during Saturday's scrimmage. Afterward, defensive coordinator Brent Venables made clear the position remains unsettled.

The secondary: Right now, Brian Jackson and Dominique Franks would start at cornerback, Lendy Holmes at free safety and Nic Harris at strong safety. But in OU's fluid defensive backfield, the lineup could shift again this week. Franks, who had been playing behind Holmes, is coming off his best week since the end of spring when he made three interceptions at the Red-White Game.
