Three With Good Starts

You know about Sam Bradford's fast start for the Sooners. Here are three other players who have started the season well:

Travis Lewis, LB

Through three games at weakside linebacker, Lewis leads the Sooners with 24 tackles and three quarterback sacks. He's been best on blitzes and against the run so far, but as he continues to settle into the position, he'll become more productive in pass coverage. All-Big 12 honors are not out of the question.

Ryan Broyles, WR

Even though he sat out the opener due to suspension, Broyles is fourth on the team in all-purpose yards (244) and touchdowns (three), and he hasn't really started returning kicks yet. Against Cincinnati he dazzled deep, and at Washington, he was better short. On 10 catches, he's averaged 22.6 yards.

Chris Brown, RB

Everyone knew Brown was talented, but, despite missing most of the offseason with a sore knee, he has ramped up his game a few notches. Brown turned in his second career 100-yard rushing game, at Washington, averages 80.3 yards per game and 5.7 per carry and leads the team with four TDs.

Travis lewis has stabilized a question mark coming into the season, the linebackers. He has a chance to be the next great one before his career is over.

Lewis may be the real deal. I'm really impressed with him.

Broyles is talented and cannot be covered...but we still need to see an entire season with no off-field troubles. Coming into this season...he was O-2. I hate to draw a comparison...but Prentiss Elliot was terrifically talented as well in Stillwater and we all know how that turned out.

Brown had a much better second half of the game at Washington than the first. During his first two series...he couldn't find a hole to save his life. Murray is still the go-to guy who will run downhill and over anyone. Murray is an absolute stud. Brown makes a solid back-up adding to our depth in the stretch run.

Really? I'm not arguing, but I would have said that Brown was the downhill run people over type more than Murray. Regardless, they are both fantastic backs. Brown really seems to have stepped up his game adding a little bit of shiftyness we hadn't really seen before.

And, Travis Lewis is an absolute beast. I can't wait until he gets more on the field experience and thus BETTER.
Have you seen him? He looks like a grown man.
