Future tense: Bob Stoops has reached two milestones this season — 10 years as Oklahoma head football coach and, as of last Saturday, 100 victories — allowing some to wonder just how long he'll remain at OU.

"I don't know how to answer any of that," Stoops said Tuesday during his weekly press conference. "My kids, my wife, my family, we do love it here. I think that's been very evident. I feel fortunate, I say it all the time, to work at a great place.

"I'm not looking to go anywhere, but you just never know. People can predict all they want, but in the end life changes and you (get) opportunities or different interests. Sometimes you need to pursue them."

If he remains in Norman, Stoops can pursue Bennie Owen (122), Bud Wilkinson (145) and Barry Switzer (157), the three coaches ahead of him on the Sooners' all-time victories list.

"I don't count wins. I'm not much on that," Stoops said. "I just want one a week. That's all I ever worry about."

Practice schedule: With an idle Saturday, the Sooners altered their practice schedule slightly this week.

"Our Tuesday and Wednesday as we go through the week are usually pretty heavy," Stoops said. "They go against each other a lot on inside drill and team sessions. We try to keep each other sharp. Blitz periods, we come after each other. We'll do that Tuesday and Wednesday and probably part of Thursday."

Coaching philosophy: With the sustained excellence of quarterback Sam Bradford, Stoops
was reminded of a comment former offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Chuck Long once made, that he felt he could be a better QB coach if he wasn't devoting so much time to coordinating the offense as well; Stoops was asked if Bradford's performance is a product of more face time with Josh Heupel.

"What Chuck did with Jason White was incredible," Stoops said. "To me, they're not to be compared. What he did with Jason White, with two rebuilt knees, from shotgun and then from under center, is pretty remarkable. I don't necessarily see it that way.

"I saw Chuck in every quarterback meeting. When our offensive coaches are meeting, Josh Heupel is in with all of them the same time. I do believe Josh is a great teacher and is doing an incredible job. I feel, too, having played the position, he understands them, he relates to them. He also was taught by Chuck. So he's teaching the same things Chuck was teaching."

That question about splitting the duties of OC and QB coach was Dean Blevin's once-a-week shot at showing everyone that he's a complete idiot.
