OU: Know The Foe

Looking back: The Horned Frogs improved to 4-0 for the first time since 2003 by routing SMU 48-7 Saturday. TCU converted 13-of-18 third downs, racked up 498 yards and held the Mustangs to 210. The last time the Frogs started 4-0, they ripped off 10 straight wins before losing.

About the offense: Andy Dalton returs from his honorable mention All-American 2007 season. Like most quarterbacks anymore, he can run or pass; he carried 17 times and made 36 throws against Stanford two weeks ago. The key to TCU's offense, though, is a veteran line that clears holes for a number of ball-carriers.

About the defense: Coach Gary Patterson's 4-2-5, which he used to upset OU in the 2005 opener, remains his calling card. This year's headliners include linebacker Jason Phillips, with safeties Stephen Hodge and Steven Coleman as well as linebacker Robert Henson lending strong support.

About special teams: Usually a strong suit of Patterson's, that wasn't the case two weeks ago against Stanford. The Cardinal tied the game at 14-14 after blocking a TCU punt, and appeared to even the count at 21-21 thanks to a 49-yard punt return for a TD. Officials ruled return man Doug Baldwin had stepped out at the TCU 13 after replays, however, and Coleman's interception followed.
