Mensik out: OU tight end Eric Mensik joins DeMarcus Granger (foot) and Frank Alexander (arm) on the injury list. Offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson said Mensik, a backup to Jermaine Gresham and Brody Eldridge, will miss four to five weeks with a broken ankle.

"It was a bad deal. We thought Eric played well at Washington," Wilson said. "It's unfortunate for him, but luckily we have a little depth there."

Freshmen James Hanna and Trent Ratterree could get increased reps while Mensik is out.

Game time: Head coach Bob Stoops didn't get completely away during last week's open date.

"I did watch football, like everybody else," he said. "I peek at (brother) Mike's game, but I have a hard time watching the entire thing. It's always been that way just because you're so connected. Not just Mike but with my brother, Mark, as well. I figure it's my day off. Why in the world am I going to act like I'm playing a game, with the same kind of emotions and stress where you're thinking all the time? I just kind of spot-check it."

Fuente's return: Former Sooner quarterback Justin Fuente will be prowling the Owen Field sidelines again this week, only this time as an enemy. He's in his second season as TCU's running backs coach.

Fuente, a 1995 All-Stater at Union, played two years at OU in 1996 and '97 before finishing his career at Murray State.

As a Sooner QB during OU's darkest era, Fuente was on the '96 team that lost to the Horned Frogs 20-7. Fuente was 6-of-16
for 88 yards with a TD (one of a then-OU freshman record 11 he threw that year) and an interception.

Another former Sooner, Clint Gresham, is now deep snapper for TCU. Gresham redshirted the 2005 season and was in uniform when TCU won 17-10.

Bradford on GameDay: ESPN's "College GameDay" was in Norman on Wednesday filming a piece on quarterback Sam Bradford. Bradford and "GameDay" contributor Desmond Howard talked while hitting putts and sand shots at the Charlie Coe Golf Center on the OU campus. The segment will air Saturday during GameDay's 9-11 a.m. telecast.
