OU: Report card

Offense: A

It was 28-0 going into the second quarter, and Oklahoma was averaging more than 9 yards per snap. The Sooners took their foot off the gas after that. Sam Bradford was again excellent, but, unlike last week against TCU, the Sooners proved they could run it against an eight-man front, gaining 217 yards on the ground.

Defense: B

Of Baylor's minuscule total yardage output of 269, 215 came on three scoring drives. Some of those, like a field goal drive, came in chunks of 17, 12, 21 and 14 yards in a five-play stretch. QB Robert Griffin was good at picking his running lanes, but the Sooner defense hit him hard and often, and he was no factor in the passing game.

Special teams: B+

Returns took a step back, averaging just 22 yards on kickoffs and 1 yard on punts. But kickoff coverage took one giant leap forward. With the wind at his back, Matthew Moreland kicked all but one ball into or out of the end zone (three touchbacks). OU opted for deep onside kickoffs into the wind, and the Sooners covered OK. The placekicking trio of snapper Ben Hampton, holder Carter Whitson and kicker Jimmy Stevens was consistent.
