Health report: Oklahoma hopes to have defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and center Jon Cooper healthy for Saturday's showdown with Texas, after the two were hurt (McCoy injured his toe and Cooper sprained his knee) at Baylor over the weekend.

Asked Sunday if McCoy was all right, OU coach Bob Stoops said: "We'll see. I believe so, but I've yet to get a report from our trainer."

Asked about Cooper, OU offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson said: "I talked to Scott (Anderson, the Sooners' head athletics trainer) and I think he's going to be pretty good... I expect Jon to go. I don't think it's a big deal, but we'll sense more tomorrow and see how it is."

Stoops said he still hoped to have defensive tackle DeMarcus Granger, out since the Washington game, and defensive end Frank Alexander, out since the weekend of the Chattanooga opener, back at practice this week.

Perfect game for Reynolds: Middle linebacker Ryan Reynolds heads into Texas week with as much momentum as possible.

"He graded out at 100 percent," defensive coordinator and position coach Brent Venables said of Reynolds' effort at Baylor. "I don't know that I've ever had that before. I tried to be very nit-picky and he graded out at 100 percent."

How does an OU linebacker earn a perfect grade?

"It's lining up correctly. No mental errors. No loafs," Venables said. "Playing with great technique every snap. If you're supposed to (cover) the curl (route), cover the curl. If you're supposed to (cover) the hook, cover the hook. If you're supposed to take your guy man-to-man, take him. If you're supposed to make certain checks in certain situations, then do it. And you can't miss tackles when given the opportunity."

New and improved: The first Red River record to fall Saturday will be for attendance, as this is the first OU-Texas game in the refurbished Cotton Bowl. The City of Dallas poured $57 million into improving the 78-year-old stadium, which now seats 92,200.

"I'm anxious to see it," Stoops said. "I haven't paid attention to any schemes or designs of it, so it will be all new to me. I'm sure it will be exciting, and I'm sure it will be a lot louder. It will just add to the already great atmosphere it is."
