OU: Know The Foe

Looking back: Texas was held under 40 points for the first time this season Saturday night at Colorado. Not that it mattered the 5-0 Longhorns scored plenty to win 38-14. Colt McCoy went 23-of-30 for 262 yards and two touchdowns (he did throw two interceptions), while running back Chris Ogbonnaya totaled 187 yards and two scores.

About the offense: McCoy has completed an astonishing 79 percent of his passes for 1,280 yards and 16 touchdowns (versus three interceptions). He has terrific receivers in Quan Cosby and Jordan Shipley and a protective line. What the Longhorns appear to lack is a marquee running back, though Ogbonnaya is coming off his best game.

About the defense: First-year coordinator Will Muschamp preaches aggression, which means waves of pressure on the opposing quarterback. Texas' front seven have provided just that with 19 sacks (second in the NCAA to TCU's 21). The inexperienced secondary remains a concern. The Longhorns surrender 244 passing yards per game, ranking 96th nationally.

About special teams: Hunter Lawrence, in his third year as Texas' kickoff specialist, is also handling placements this season. He's 4-of-4 on field goals. The Longhorns are fifth nationally in net punting. Statistically, they cover punts well, but not kickoffs. And their return game wouldn't appear to be too dangerous.
