OU Notebook

The one that got away:
Oklahoma's best chance to force a Texas turnover came with a minute remaining in the third quarter, when linebacker Lamont Robinson appeared to intercept Colt McCoy in the end zone to keep the Sooners ahead 28-27. Only, the ball came loose as Robinson hit the Cotton Bowl turf and officials ruled it an incomplete pass.
"The ball didn't come out until after I hit the ground. I caught the ball," said Robinson, a reserve linebacker who was in the game as part of OU's short-yardage defense on the third-and-1 play. "I don't know if I took a step or not, it happened so fast. But I know I caught the ball, secured it. I hit (the end zone) on my arms, rolled over, and the ball came out after I rolled over. I felt it was an interception, but . . . It was a close call. The game's going real fast. Those guys (officials) are human just like we are."
Asked if he considered asking for a replay officials' review, OU coach Bob Stoops said: "I don't believe it's reviewable. The incompletions, from what I understand, aren't."
Hunter Lawrence kicked a 28-yard field goal after the call, and Texas led for the first time, 30-28.
"This game is much larger than one play," Robinson said. "There's a bunch of different things that happen that can change the course of a game. It's just one of the bad breaks we got."
What were you thinking?:
Six and a half minutes remained when the Sooners, trailing 38-35, punted on fourth-and-2 from their own 46-yard line. The Longhorns had scored on their previous three possessions, and they made it four in a row after taking the punt and driving 80 yards.
Cody Johnson punched in a 2-yard run to make it 45-35 with four minutes left, and OU was all but finished.
Should Stoops have gone for it on fourth-and-2?
"Yeah, I probably should have," he answered. "Just one of those situations. There's so much time, you think you can come up with a stop. We had already went for it one other time (on a third-quarter faked punt) and it didn't work. I was thinking, 'Let's get them stopped here. We've still got a shot.'
"Obviously in hindsight, it's pretty easy to make the call now."
Third downer:
Before electing to punt, the Sooners gained 7 yards on a first-down pass to Juaquin Iglesias. It set them up well, second-and-3 on their own 45, before things bogged down.
"We run it on second down and get stuffed," offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson said, alluding to DeMarco Murray's 1-yard gain. "Now it's third-and-(2). We come back to the same play that started the drive and it didn't work."
Sam Bradford tried a short dump-off over the middle, this time to Manuel Johnson, but the pass was a tad high and fell incomplete.
"I think if we had gotten that first down and gotten a little momentum, we were probably going to be in field-goal range and tie it or might have gotten a touchdown," Wilson said. "Who knows? Credit them, they made the play.
"I'd like to have the call back."
Freshman frenzy:
Linebacker Travis Lewis tied Brian Bosworth's OU record for single-game tackles by a freshman, with 19. Two of those hits, however, resulted in personal foul penalties for sideline shots on Texas quarterback Colt McCoy.
"He acted sometimes," Lewis said. "From their view, (officials) saw I hit him out of bounds. I said, 'My momentum was taking me out. I had my hands up. It's not like I tried to hit him.' But they said late hit. Their call."
Texas kicked field goals on the drives in which Lewis was penalized.

Medium game Bob didn't look very impressive. How much is OU paying for him? His tantrum on the sideline wasn't as impressive any Gundy's rant - looks like he is pouting and can't spit his words out.
