Injuries update: Oklahoma wide receiver Manuel Johnson walked off Owen Field with his left arm in a sling Saturday, after dislocating his elbow on the Sooners' fifth play. Afterward, coach Bob Stoops said: "It's probably likely that he'll play this week."

"He said it hurts, but he thinks he'll be back soon," OU wide receiver Juaquin Iglesias said. "I hope he's back soon."

Sooner tight end Brody Eldridge went through pregame drills, but was held out with an ankle sprain.

Doing all he can: Kansas burned the Sooners for 235 first-half passing yards. Wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe was responsible for 193 himself. Just consider how those numbers would have looked without Lendy Holmes.

The OU free safety stole a deep jump ball from Briscoe as the two went tumbling to the turf on the Sooners' 16-yard line midway through the first quarter. Holmes' play kept Briscoe from another 29 yards, while keeping Kansas out of scoring range in a 0-0 game.

Holmes made his second interception when Todd Reesing forced a second-down pass to Briscoe near the goal line midway through the second quarter.

On the next drive, Reesing found Briscoe on third-and-goal from the OU 6, but Holmes knocked down the pass. Kansas settled for a field goal.

Ends of the line: Kansas quarterback Todd Reesing threw for 342 yards, but only rushed for nine on 13 attempts. That's why OU coaches were thrilled with their defensive line's play.

Ends Jeremy Beal and Auston English combined for nine tackles and three of the Sooners' five sacks.

Streak stoppers: For all the offense OU produced Saturday, it came up scoreless on its first drive, the first time that happened in 2008. It also marked the first time OU didn't score inside the opponent's 20-yard line all year, after going 28-for-28 coming in (with 27 TDs).

OU could have kept both streaks alive had Sam Bradford seen Iglesias uncovered in the secondary on first-and-10 from the Kansas 17. He threw to Quentin Chaney instead for a gain of 4.

On the next play, Bradford rolled right and passed to tight end Jermaine Gresham, but Gresham couldn't hold it. After a missed third-down pass to Chaney, Jimmy Stevens shanked a 30-yard field goal try wide left.

Special situation: Stoops made three changes to his starting kickoff coverage team, putting starting linebackers Travis Lewis, Nic Harris and Keenan Clayton on the unit in place of reserves Brett Bowers, Brandon Caleb and J.R. Bryant.

Kansas' first return nets 42 yards, but the Sooners held things down from there. Stoops also used Bowers, Caleb and Adron Tennell, as well as freshman tight end James Hanna in kick coverage.

Sticking with Stevens: Jimmy Stevens, who came in having made the only field goal he had tried, went 1-for-3 Saturday. He missed wide left from 30 and 47 yards out while connecting on a 19-yard chip shot.

Asked about the effort, Stoops said, "It wasn't very good."

Asked if he'd consider making a change — OU's plan is to redshirt Union freshman Tress Way — Stoops said: "I don't think so. No."

I love Bob Stoops.

Our Defense is just weak..

We will lose @ OSU & probably.. one before..

Our best hope is to actually score every time we touch the ball..
