MANHATTAN, Kan. — Kansas State was surging, with 21 straight points to turn a blowout into a 28- 28 second-quarter tie. Their crowd was raging.

And now Juaquin Iglesias, Oklahoma’s most reliable receiver, had dropped a pass on the K-State 5-yard line to set up fourth-and-6 from the Wildcats’ 24.

Between that play and the next, there was enough time for Iglesias to think, “It’s going to happen. You’re not going to catch every ball, even though you want to.

You forget about the last play and try to make the next one.”

And quarterback Sam Bradford to think, “Just because he drops a ball doesn’t mean I’m going to shy away from him the rest of the game. He’s made plays for us all year, and I felt (the fourth-down) play was going to be no different.”

OU broke huddle. Iglesias split wide right and appeared to draw single coverage.

“Coach (Josh) Heupel’s comment was that (Bradford) was going to Juaquin all the way,” offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson said.

“Yeah,” Bradford confirmed, “I had narrowed it down that I was going to him.”

He did. Iglesias ran a cross over the middle, beat K-State’s coverage and hauled in Bradford’s pass at the Wildcats’ 10. One play later, Bradford hit running back DeMarco Murray for a touchdown to put the Sooners ahead and launch a 27- point run.

At halftime, that 28-28 tie had become a blowout again, and OU was on the way to a 58-35 win. And Iglesias was over his one mistake.

“It was big,” he said of the fourth-down catch. “If they go back down and score, it could have been a different game. That play, I think, pushed us over the top.”

Drops too many, as do all of our receivers. You'd think that we would have cleaned this up by now, this far into the season. Do we practice throughout the week? Oftentimes it doesn't appear that we have...

offense is fine, defense and special teams will cost the Sooners a shot at the national championship.
