Bradford on ice: One of the most memorable dates in Oklahoma football history is Oct. 28, 2000, the day the Sooners returned to No. 1 with a 31-14 victory over previously-top ranked Nebraska. What was current OU quarterback Sam Bradford doing at the time?

"I was playing a hockey game that day," he said, "so I wasn't able to come to the game. But I remember the first thing after the game was over, I skated over to the glass and asked my dad if we won. He said that we did."

Asked if he referred to the Sooners as "we" even then, Bradford replied, "Yeah, definitely."

Ganz can: Saturday night marks OU's fifth Big 12 game and the fifth test against a dangerous Big 12 quarterback. This time, he's Joe Ganz, who has thrown for 1,013 yards and six touchdowns, while completing 75 percent of his passes, over his last three games.

"Obviously, it's the strength of their team, the quarterback," OU defensive coordinator Brent Venables said. "They're running the same system (as employed by previous coach Bill Callahan) and he has a great feel for it."

"I coached Joey for three years, and he's a really competitive kid," said OU wide receivers coach Jay Norvell, a former Nebraska assistant. "He's got quick feet. He's active as a runner. And he knows that offense. He's a threat."

Carter comes on: When reserve Quinton Carter got so much playing time at safety last week at Kansas State, some speculated starter Nic Harris was either hurt or worn out. But that wasn't necessarily
the case.

"Last week was more about continuing to work Quinton into our defense," OU secondary coach Bobby Jack Wright revealed.

"He took every other series at strong safety in the second half. In the first half he took two or three at strong safety and one series at free safety for Lendy (Holmes). I'll continue to work him in. He's proven that he's earned his right to play.

"He graded out higher than anybody. I think he plays with more speed, more violence, more intensity than maybe anybody we've got in our secondary. Trust me, I love the way he is playing."

Tickets available: Unclaimed OU student football tickets have become available for the Nebraska game at 7 p.m. Saturday at Owen Field.

Tickets can be purchased online at tulsaworld.com/ousports . Tickets are $87 apiece and are for reserved seats in section 26.

Unclaimed student tickets. I'm guessing that rather than going to support their team, the kiddos are either text messaging at the union or playing xbox-360? WTH?
