OU: Know The Foe

Looking back: Texas A&M defeated Colorado 24-17 Saturday to give first-year coach Mike Sherman back-to-back wins for the first time.

The Aggies are 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the Big 12 Conference, but thanks to the Big 12 North (they beat Iowa State the Saturday before knocking off the Buffaloes), they are still in the hunt for a bowl game.

About the offense: It's a youth movement. Throwing primarily to freshmen Jeff Fuller and Ryan Tannehill, sophomore quarterback Jerrod Johnson has five straight games of at least 200 passing yards. Freshman Cyrus Gray replaced the injured Mike Goodson Saturday and rushed for 80 yards.

About the defense: The Aggies rank in the 100s nationally in rushing, scoring and total defense. At least they were good enough to hold down Colorado, thanks to a pair of interceptions by another freshman, safety Trent Hunter. In the three games before that one, A&M had given up a total of 1,584 yards.

About special teams: Freshman Randy Bullock pulled off his redshirt last month and is now 5-for-5 on field goals. Justin Brantly is the Big 12 Conference's leading punter.

Still, the Aggies had a punt blocked for the first time in three years against Kansas State. They also gave up Dez Bryant's 78-yard punt return for a touchdown at OSU.
