Sideline banter: Twice during Saturday's game against Nebraska, Oklahoma senior safety Nic Harris was seen on the sideline exchanging shouts and gestures with coaches. Once it was with safeties coach Bobby Jack Wright. Another, it was with head coach Bob Stoops. One occurred after Harris was called off the field and replaced by Lendy Holmes; the other happened after Harris gave up a Nebraska touchdown pass.

Both discussions went on for several minutes.

"So what? He's getting corrected," Stoops said. "He's supposed to be somewhere and he wasn't there. So you correct him. It's not a big deal. That happens all the time. If a guy's a certain guy, you don't correct him? It's not a big deal. A guy is wrong and not doing something that you've worked all week and you're supposed to do, then you correct him. Him and every other guy that's here, as long as we're here, that's what's going to happen."

Said Harris, "There's a lot of things that happen throughout the course of the game. Some things are on display, and some things aren't on display. Throughout the game, there's a lot of emotion."

Harris acknowledged that his strong will might have gotten in the way. Some observers suggested he would have been better served to not speak as much as he did, and he agreed.

"That's probably what I should have done, just say, 'Yes sir' and keep it moving," he said.

New commit: OU on Monday received a verbal commitment from defensive back Kevin Brent, a safety from Dallas South Oak Cliff. According to Scout.com, Brent is a four-star prospect and the fourth-best high school safety in the nation.

BCS drop: Stoops said he didn't necessarily agree with it, but understood how a football team that wins a game 62-28 can drop in the polls, as OU did, from No. 4 to No. 6.

"I imagine it has a little bit to do with maybe at the time who has played who," he said. "I don't know, when you look at strength of schedules, those kinds of things and/or who you've lost to or whether it's home or away. All of those things, I imagine, are factored in.

"But I know we still have three big games left. In the end, that's what matters, what you do from here on out. Other teams have some big games left as well. There's a lot that still can happen, and we're very aware of that."

Short throws: Linebacker Keenan Clayton set a single-season record Saturday with his fifth forced fumble. Linebacker Travis Lewis leads the Sooners with 93 tackles and is close to becoming just the second OU freshman with more than 100 (Brian Bosworth had 133 in 1984). DeMarco Murray's three TDs against Nebraska raise his two-year total to 29, tying the freshman-sophomore school record set by Adrian Peterson. Tight end Jermaine Gresham's two TDs against Nebraska raise his career total to 21, tied with Malcolm Kelly for second in OU history.
