GameDay is back: ESPN's "College GameDay" will originate live from Owen Field on Saturday when No. 2 Texas Tech visits No. 5 Oklahoma for a 7 p.m. showdown for Big 12 South supremacy. The game will be televised by ABC (KTUL-8).

The show, which starts at 9 a.m., will set up on the infield at the John Jacobs Track and Field Complex east of Memorial Stadium. It's the 20th time "College GameDay" has been on hand for an OU game and the sixth time it's originated from Norman.

Gresham a Mackey semifinalist: Oklahoma junior Jermaine Gresham is a semifinalist for the 2008 John Mackey Award, given each year to the outstanding tight end in college football. Other semifinalists include Chase Coffman (Missouri) and Brandon Pettigrew (Oklahoma State). Three finalists are revealed Nov. 24 and the winner will be announced on Dec. 11 at the ESPNU College Football Awards Show live on ESPN-25.

Rooting interests: Because Texas Tech beat Texas, the Longhorns might be hoping for an OU victory Saturday, which could force a three-way tie for the Big 12 South that would come down to BCS standings. But Texas coach Mack Brown won't be rooting.

"I remember I pulled really, really hard for Oklahoma the time they were playing Kansas State in the Big 12 championship game (in 2003) and I sat there and I was all pumped up because we were going to the Fiesta Bowl as soon as they won, and Kansas State beat 'em 35-7," Brown said. "So I realized that night that me being a fan of either team doesn't really matter.
So I'll just sit back and watch. There's so many things that can happen over the next three weeks that I will simply sit back and watch and be a fan of the game."

New end: With Auston English and Alan Davis on the mend from knee injuries, little-used transfer linebacker J.R. Bryant has moved to defensive end.

"He's good. He's an athlete," said OU defensive coordinator Brent Venables. "Obviously, it's not a perfect set of circumstances. But it puts another athlete and additional speed out there on the field."

Will Bryant help?

"He's going to get out there and line up. You know? We'll see," Venables said. "You like his skill set. He's learning a new position and there's some technique that's involved, so you try not to overcoach him and turn him loose."
