English expected to miss Bedlam: It appears Auston English will miss Bedlam again.

A fractured ankle kept the Oklahoma defensive end from last year's 49-17 victory over Oklahoma State.

This time, the culprit is a sprained left knee suffered against Nebraska Nov. 2.

"He's progressing well, but we don't expect him to play this week," OU coach Bob Stoops said during the Big 12 teleconference Monday morning.

Asked if English could return for the Big 12 championship Dec. 6, should the Sooners win in Stillwater Saturday night and then win a three-way Big 12 South tiebreaker via BCS ranking, Stoops said: "Possibly. I'm sure they'll evaluate him a little later in the week. He's getting better, but I couldn't tell you about next week."

English's absence this week means another long night for defensive ends Jeremy Beal and Frank Alexander, who played the first three-plus quarters of OU's 65-21 blowout of Texas Tech Saturday night before giving way to reserves. Beal sacked Tech quarterback Graham Harrell twice to give him 7 1/2 sacks on the year. Alexander, whose freshman season was delayed by an arm injury sustained in a night club stabbing Aug. 31, has two sacks while teaming with Beal to provide constant pressure since English's injury.

English, the Big 12's preseason defensive player of the year, had 4 1/2 sacks when he went down against Nebraska.

The Sooners held Zac Robinson, the OSU quarterback they'll defend this weekend, to 105 yards on 8-of-20 passing
last year. Their only sack of Robinson came courtesy of safety Nic Harris.

They're going to Disney World: The Sooners will be represented by quarterback Sam Bradford and guard Duke Robinson at the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards show Dec. 11 at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Bradford, who picked up the Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week award Monday for his effort against Texas Tech, joins Tech's Graham Harrell and Texas' Colt McCoy as finalists for the Davey O'Brien Award given annually to the best college quarterback. Bradford is not a finalist for the Maxwell Award presented to the best overall player, but Harrell, McCoy and Florida's Tim Tebow are.

Robinson is an Outland Trophy finalist.

Gresham a finalist: OU sophomore Jermaine Gresham, coming off a 5-catch, 95-yard game against Tech, is one of three finalists for the John Mackey Award presented to the nation's top tight end.

Also up for the award are Oklahoma State's Brandon Pettigrew and Missouri's Chase Coffman. No Sooner has ever won the Mackey. The winner will be announced Dec. 11, with the presentation scheduled for April 27, 2009.
