Bradford faces surgery: Bob Stoops indicated Sunday that Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford tore ligaments in his left, or non-throwing, hand during the third series of Saturday night's 61-41 victory over Oklahoma State.

"He will in all likelihood have surgery on it after the Big 12 championship game," Stoops said. "But we'll still be able to support him with some kind of soft cast. That's why he dropped a couple snaps (Saturday). That's why we were in the shotgun the entire second half, because of the dislocation of the finger. But he still fought through it and was amazing the way he played."

Box out Saturday: OU middle linebacker Austin Box will not play in Saturday's Big 12 final after suffering a sprained left knee early in the fourth quarter at OSU. Stoops confirmed that Mike Balogun, who made three tackles after replacing Box in Stillwater, would get the call against Missouri.

Also, Stoops said it was "possible" Auston English could return Saturday. The starting defensive end has been out with his own knee sprain since the third quarter of OU's victory over Nebraska Nov. 1.

The Sooners have used Jeremy Beal and Frank Alexander almost exclusively at defensive end the past two games.

Tough call: Texas coach Mack Brown appeared by phone during both the OU-Texas Tech and OU-OSU telecasts on ABC.

"Hey, if that's what they need to do, they need to do it," Stoops remarked Sunday.

The Sooners' coach said he was asked to appear during Friday's Texas-Texas A&M game, but declined because "I didn't think it was right."

"As a program, you've got to have your standards," Stoops said. "I'm not comparing ours. I'm just saying I felt comfortable with the way we did it and what we had to say and when we had to say it and didn't overdo it."

The plane! The plane!: The airplane that Texas boosters reportedly paid $7,000 to fly over Boone Pickens Stadium Saturday night? The one with the banner that read, "Texas 45 OU 35 ... Settled on a neutral field?"

"I didn't notice it," Stoops said.

The coach did say, tongue in cheek, that he considered hiring a plane to fly over the Texas-Texas A&M game with the scores of OU's and Texas' games against Texas Tech.

Missouri loses coordinator: The Tigers head into Saturday's matchup coming off a loss to Kansas, and the loss of one of their key assistants.

Offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Dave Christensen is leaving to take over at Wyoming, though it was not immediately known if he would stay on at Mizzou through Saturday's Big 12 championship.
