Bradford a Camp finalist: It was a good Tuesday for Sam Bradford. The Oklahoma quarterback was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, and became one of five finalists for the Walter Camp Award, a version of college football's player of the year.

Bradford made the cut along with fellow Big 12 quarterbacks Graham Harrell of Texas Tech and Colt McCoy of Texas. The other two finalists are Florida quarterback Tim Tebow and Tech wide receiver Michael Crabtree.

The winner will be announced Dec. 11 on ESPN's "SportsCenter" and presented by the Camp Foundation on Jan. 17.

Big 12 tiebreaker reconsidered: Against so much national backlash over his conference's use of the BCS to break the South Division's three-way tie, Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe backtracked somewhat Tuesday when he told ESPN.com that the league might reconsider its tiebreaking procedure.

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops covered the topic at his weekly press conference as well, saying: "If they want to change it, I'll do whatever they say, just like we did this year."

When tiebreaking procedures from other conferences came up, Stoops responded: "I could care less. Just tell me before the season starts what the rules are. We'll go play by them like we do every year. Shoot, I'd even vote (a departure from this season, when Stoops did not vote in the weekly coaches poll). I'd sit there and lobby for it."

English practicing: Defensive end Auston English, who returned from an injury to play sparingly in the 2007 Big 12 championship game against Missouri, is trying to repeat that feat.

"He got some snaps yesterday, seemed to handle them well," Stoops reported. "We'll progress him through the week to see how close he is to playing. We're hopeful he'll be able to play and contribute. How much, I don't know."

English hasn't played since spraining his knee Nov. 1 against Nebraska. Without him, Jeremy Beal and Frank Alexander have excelled while playing nearly every snap at defensive end. Beal forced two fumbles at Oklahoma State last Saturday, three if you count the Kendall Hunter bobble that officials missed in the third quarter.

"I don't know that I've had a guy on the defensive line cause three fumbles," Stoops said. "In fact, I know I haven't."
