NORMAN — With the Heisman Trophy voting deadline less than a week away, the University of Oklahoma has launched a media-blitz campaign to promote the candidacy of quarterback Sam Bradford.

OU's sports information department sent out a hand-held fan to more than 800 members of the Football Writers Association of America. The fan features a cutout picture of Bradford, which appears similar to the stiff-arm pose of the player featured on the Heisman Trophy.

OU sports information director Kenny Mossman said the photo was taken during the Sooners' 52-26 win over Cincinnati on Sept. 6. Several of Bradford's accomplishments this season are listed on the fan's flipside.

Bradford is considered a front-runner for the award, which the Heisman committee states on its ballot as going "to the most outstanding college football player in the United States for 2008."

Voting ends at 6 p.m. Dec. 10, and the winner will be announced at a ceremony in New York City Dec. 13.

A redshirt sophomore, Bradford is bidding to become the fifth OU player to win college football's most prestigious individual honor. The school's winners are running back Billy Vessels, 1952; running back Steve Owens, 1969; running back Billy Sims, 1978 and quarterback Jason White, 2003.
