OU: 3 Storylines

A look at three key things to watch in today's Missouri-Oklahoma contest.

Don’t get cocky

OU has beaten Missouri 18 of the past 19 meetings. The Sooners are 17-point favorites. They got to stick it to Texas by winning the Big 12 South’s three-way tiebreaker. They’ll probably play for the national championship if they win. Thus, they’ve had every reason to let their uncanny focus wander. For the Sooners, this game already has been won or lost. If they prepared as usual in practice, film prep and meetings, they’ll win. If they listened to everyone tell them how wonderful they are, they could be disappointed.

Keep it simple

Without Sooner turnovers, Missouri’s defense simply isn’t equipped to affect Oklahoma’s offense. The Tigers are 116th nationally (of 119 teams) in pass defense, allowing 277 yards per game, while the Sooners are third nationally in passing offense at 354 yards per game. The Tigers’ defense is 91st overall (397 ypg), so OU’s offense shouldn’t have problems.

Chase Chase

In three career games against OU, Missouri QB Chase Daniel has one TD pass, two TD runs, three fumbles, six interceptions and six sacks. Getting after Daniel with pressure, staying tight on his receivers and tackling well typically turns one of college football’s best players into a turnover machine.
