Bradford undergoes surgery: Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford underwent successful surgery Sunday morning for the torn ligaments in his left hand suffered during OU's victory over Oklahoma State two weeks ago.

"It was a clean, routine procedure and we expect Sam to bounce back quickly," OU coach Bob Stoops said. "He'll be practicing again within 10 days. We've taken this week off anyway so he won't miss much."

The surgery lasted 90 minutes. Bradford was back attending a team function by Sunday evening.

Middle of the action: OU had to be encouraged with Travis Lewis' debut at middle linebacker in Saturday's Big 12 championship thrashing of Missouri. The freshman slid over from the weak side in place of the injured Austin Box and made a game-high 13 tackles to break Brian Bosworth's single-season record of 133 set back in 1984.

Lewis made the first big defensive play of the night to end Missouri's first series, when he shot past right tackle Colin Brown on a blitz and sacked Chase Daniel for a loss of four on third-and-2.

Lewis pressured Daniel several times, but his most important contribution was stuffing the run. Mizzou had hoped to establish tailback Derrick Washington, but he finished with 29 yards on 10 carries as Lewis kept close watch.

Movin' on up: With Lewis in the middle, strong safety Nic Harris moved up to weakside linebacker on several occasions. He, too, turned in a solid game with a career-high-tying 10 tackles and a one-on-one shoulder-to-ball
hit on Daniel that produced the game's first turnover.

Gresham keeps it going: OU's hottest offensive player this side of Bradford is Jermaine Gresham. The junior tight end caught eight passes for 82 yards against Missouri, giving him 22 receptions for 335 yards and three touchdowns in his last three games.

It was Gresham who kick-started the Sooners Saturday night, after they went without a touchdown on their first two possessions, with back-to-back catches covering 16 and 17 yards on their third. That put OU on the Tigers' 17-year line; three Chris Brown runs later, the Sooners led 10-0.

Grand finale: While Gresham has an outside shot at a 1,000-yard season — he needs 112 yards against Florida in the national championship — OU wide receiver Juaquin Iglesias is already there. His 125-yard effort against Missouri gave him 1,092 for the year, the second-most in a Sooner season behind Mark Clayton's 1,425 in 2003.

Iglesias' two touchdown catches, coming two minutes apart in Saturday's second quarter, tied a Big 12 championship record shared by former Sooners Clayton (from 2004) and Malcolm Kelly (from '06).
