Gators' Spikes says SEC runners superior to OU's: On Saturday morning, a reporter asked Oklahoma running back Chris Brown if people were underestimating the Sooners' running game now that DeMarco Murray was sidelined for the national championship.

"I don't know, maybe," the soft-spoken Brown replied. "If so, so be it."

Not 30 minutes later, Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes walked into the same interview room, and was asked if OU's running backs matched up with those Spikes had faced in the SEC.

"A little bit," he answered. "But not too much."

So SEC backs have been better?

"Absolutely," Spikes said. "By far."

Box, Balogun both practicing: It looks as though Austin Box, trying to recover from the sprained knee he suffered at Oklahoma State on Nov. 29, and Mike Balogun will share practice snaps until the Jan. 8 game.

"Those guys are doing well. They're getting better," OU coach Bob Stoops said. "We'll see how it goes through the week. We feel confident in either one of them."

Balogun spot-played, with weakside linebacker Travis Lewis handling the middle, in the Sooners' Big 12 title victory over Missouri on Dec. 6.

Bradford to the Lions?: Todd McShay's latest mock draft on ESPN.com has OU quarterback Sam Bradford going No. 1 overall to the Detroit Lions.

"To be honest, I'm not focused on that at all," Bradford said Saturday. "I'm here in Miami, getting ready for the national championship game, trying to help my team win. That's something I'll worry about after this game is over."

Bradford reiterated his point a few minutes later, saying, "I'm not a big NFL guy. I don't watch a lot of it."

Parcells pays a visit: Bill Parcells, the Dolphins' vice president of football operations, visited OU's practice Saturday, and took a moment to address the team.

"It's always important when you get a legendary figure and a guy that's a hall of fame coach, you get a chance to be around him and say hello," Stoops said. "I like our guys to get a chance to see and hear from those kinds of guys."

Before leaving practice, Parcells made a point to encourage DeMarcus Granger, the defensive tackle recovering from back surgery, who was standing by himself on crutches on the sideline.

"He's just evaluating our players," Stoops said. "I've always been a big fan of the way he coaches. And the way he handles you media guys, too."
