OU FOOTBALL

Connor Wood, expected to be one of the top high school quarterbacks in Texas in 2009, has reportedly given a verbal commitment to the University of Texas.

Wood was reportedly high on Oklahoma's wish list in the 2010 recruiting class, but the Rivals network Web site OrangeBloods.com quoted an unnamed source in a Wednesday report saying that Wood's choice came down to OU and Texas — he attended junior day camps of both schools — and the Houston Second Baptist product gave UT his pledge on Tuesday night over offers from OU, Alabama, LSU and Notre Dame.

Wood was reportedly OU's first quarterback offer. On Monday, Rivals network site SoonerScoop.com reported that OU also had offered Blake Bell, a quarterback at Bishop Carroll High School in Wichita, Kan.

Bell has offers from Georgia, LSU, Miami, Missouri and Notre Dame, according to Rivals. But with 11 1/2 months until Signing Day, it's likely the Sooners won't quit on Wood. Texas just signed Garrett Gilbert, the No. 1 QB in Texas (No. 3 nationally, according to Rivals), and also already has a 2010 verbal commitment from Case McCoy, younger brother of Longhorn Colt McCoy.

He might want to second think that decision. It would make me very happy to play a game against a player that dissed OU.

BOOMER SOONER!!

The Sooners and Cowboys continue to get Mack Brown's leftovers.

I think the recruits are just confused. Mack coached at OU first......and the football stadium is named for an OU player for petes sake.
