Childress chat: Only one head coach attended OU's pro day on Tuesday: the Vikings' Brad Childress. Childress chatted at length with Bob Stoops, Jay Norvell and Kevin Wilson. At one point during drills, he took out his cell phone and snapped several photos of OU's indoor workout facility.

"I was telling coach Stoops, 'If you've got any more Adrian Petersons, we'll take any more of those that you've got,' " he said.

Childress said he liked OU's offensive linemen, wideout Juaquin Iglesias and defensive back Lendy Holmes, but said the Vikings aren't in the market for one position over another.

"I can't think of a position we wouldn't add a good player at," he said. "You make a mistake by saying, 'I've got to have one of these,' and then you have a tendency to push 'em up in your eyes."

Past prologue: A handful of ex-Sooners now in the NFL — C.J. Ah You of St. Louis, Larry Birdine of Tennessee and Reggie Smith of San Francisco among them — watched the workouts and remembered what a stressful time it was.

"The real stress was the combine, because you're up from morning to night, then you've got to get up and perform and you're tired, you're on your feet," Ah You said.

Little big man: Center Jon Cooper weighed in at 290 pounds. Sounds small, right? Actually, that was up 35 pounds from last year's Texas A&M game, when Cooper was stripped to 255 because of strep throat. He's been gaining slowly ever since, but has really picked up pounds since the East-West Shrine Game. As a result, his 40 times Tuesday were lower than normal: 5.10 and 5.09.

"I've run better than that. I've broken 5.0 pretty consistently before, so I think maybe putting this on so fast might have slowed me down a little bit, but maybe not that bad."
