Scrimmage status cloudy: Various weather reports forecast as much as six inches of snow in the Oklahoma City metro area Friday night and Saturday morning. That would move Oklahoma's second scheduled football scrimmage indoors. Full scrimmages, though, are impossible inside the Everest Training Center.

"The walls are a little bit too tight," coach Bob Stoops said after practice Wednesday.

The Sooners scheduled a scrimmage for March 12, but weather forced it indoors. Teams are allowed three practices per spring designated for full-contact scrimmages, with the contact session being more than 50 percent of the total practice time.

Injury report: Strongside linebacker Keenan Clayton is currently out of action with a high ankle sprain. He said the plan was to be able to return by the April 11 Red/White Game, but acknowledged there was caution in hurrying back too soon and suffering a setback.

Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy is practicing with a bandage covering six stitches over his right eye, the result of an after-dark jaunt from his house to his truck — having just stepped out of the shower, with feet wet and a towel around his waist.

"Foolish me, I wasn't thinking, 'Your feet are still wet,' " he said. "So I'm running, and for some reason all 300 pounds of me ended up in the air and my eye landed on the bottom of the door ledge. It was a lot of fun. I laid there about five minutes, just in pain."

Wilson update: Stoops said wide receiver Corey Wilson, critically injured in a February car accident, is "making good progress. He continues to get stronger. I saw him this morning. In his rehab and how he's working, he continues to make good progress. They're hopeful he'll be able to be able to be released from the Thorpe Rehab Center — they're shooting for April 3. All indications are that he's making great progress and they would expect him to be released then, but we'll see. He's making steady progress and he's had a positive attitude."
