Hannan leaving: University of Oklahoma offensive lineman Jason Hannan has left the team, according to teammates.

Hannan, a 6-foot-3, 283-pound sophomore from Waxahachie, Texas, initially had been counted on this spring as a potential replacement for three-year starter Jon Cooper at center. Hannan played in seven games as Cooper's backup last season.

"He's transferring — he's leaving," senior Brian Simmons said after Thursday's practice. "I don't know the details, but he's no longer with us any more."

Redshirt freshman Ben Habern began the spring as Cooper's replacement and has remained there, said Brian Simmons, a senior left guard.

Hannan's replacement as the backup center is Brian Lepak, a 6-4, 285-pound senior from Claremore who transferred to Oklaohma after playing at Colorado State.

"He was a scholarship player at Colorado State. He is a walk-on player, but I look at him as a scholarship player," Simmons said. "He has tremendous technique. You know he's smart. He knows what he's doing."

Flag day: Former Sooner greats will clash again — this time in a flag football game prior to the April 11 Red/White Game at Memorial Stadium.

The Varsity O Legends Flag Football Classic begins at 12:15 p.m. and concludes around 12:35 p.m. and will include such former OU greats like Stephen Alexander, Brian Bosworth, Tony Casillas, Dan Cody, Patrick Fletcher, Antonio Perkins, Trent Smith, Charles Thompson and Paul Thompson.

The Red/White
Game begins at 1:15 p.m.

Tickets are $5 if purchased on or before Tuesday and $10 if purchased thereafter.

Money game: Oklahoma football players reached a new level of performance in 2008 — on the field and in the wallet, contributing to an additional $17,000 to the university's general scholarship fund.

The largest part of the sum ($10,000) came from the Davey O'Brien Foundation in honor of Sam Bradford's O'Brien Award.

OU also received seven $1,000 gifts as part of Chevrolet's Most Valuable Player Award, presented during specified televised games. The contributions benefit non-student-athletes at OU, according to an OU press release.

No. 1 with a bullet: Blake Bell, Rivals.com's No. 1 high school quarterback, was seen in Norman on Thursday on an unofficial visit.

It was reportedly his first trip to the OU campus since the Sooners' big victory over Texas Tech last November.

He told Rivals network Web site SoonerScoop.com that he was in Norman "for the day" to closely watch practice.

The 6-foot-6, 210-pound Bell, from Bishop Carroll High School in Wichita, Kan., has offers from OU as well as Georgia, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame and Oregon, among others.

"The contributions benefit non-student-athletes at OU"
I know what they mean, but doesn't that sound like it is going to athletes at OU who are not students? Instead of non-athlete students? haha.
