OU quarterback Sam Bradford signs autographs after the Red/White game Saturday in Norman. MIKE SIMONS / Tulsa World

Future tense: Saturday's Red/White Game was a big day for Oklahoma's future. Not 2009, but beyond.

Dozens of high-profile recruits were in attendance, including at least three five-star prospects and more than a dozen four-star prospects, as rated by Rivals.com.

Among the most coveted recruits in the stands was defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat of Plano, Texas (he was there with his father, former Dallas defensive end Jim Jeffcoat), wide receiver Darius White and quarterback Blake Bell — already an OU verbal commitment.

Tulsa Central running back DeMarco Cobbs, rated as the top overall player in Oklahoma, also was in Norman.

Band of brothers: Several Sooners wore new rubber wristbands during the scrimmage. The bands are red and blue, and on the front is the yellow Superman logo.

The wristbands were a gift handed out by Sooner Corey Wilson, who watched from a wheelchair on the sideline. Wilson was paralyzed in a February car accident and has begun full rehab with hopes of walking someday.

"It's tough, man," linebacker Travis Lewis said. "We have to keep his spirits up. We have to be strong for him."

Welcome back: Sam Bradford was presented with his Heisman Trophy during halftime of the Red/White Game. There's a version of Bradford's trophy at the Sports Museum of America in Manhattan, another at the Bradford household in Oklahoma City, and OU gets to put another copy in the Switzer Center. That's the one fans saw on Saturday. Some even posed for pictures with it before the scrimmage.

"It was nice," Bradford said. "All the people that came out today to support our spring game, I don't know how many there were, but I think there's not too many places in the country that bring this many people out for a spring scrimmage. So to get that (trophy) in front of them, they were a big part of that last year, so it felt really good."

Dominant Dominique: Is anybody ever better in the Red/White Game than Dominique Franks? Last year, his first as a starter, he had three interceptions and returned one for a touchdown. This year, he picked off two passes and brought another back for a score.

"Yeah, I love the Red/White Game," he said. "They throw me a couple balls and I get a chance to get my hands on them.

"You really get excited for this. The fans come out and it's a lot different than a practice. You're more amped up, people are flying around a little bit more. And it's a good chance to get he bitter taste out of our mouth (from the national championship game defeat) and move forward next year."
