Sources: OU-Texas set for an 11 a.m. kickoff
By DAVE SITTLER, World Sports Writer

The highly anticipated Oklahoma-Texas football game on Oct. 17 likely will have an 11 a.m. kickoff for the second consecutive year.
As first reported Tuesday afternoon on
tulsaworld.com
, sources have confirmed the late-morning starting time as well as revealing that ABC most likely will select the game in Dallas for a national telecast.
The Big 12 could make the 11 a.m. kickoff time official during its spring meetings, which are being held this week in Colorado Springs, Colo. Historically, some games that have been selected for TV are announced shortly after the meetings.
The morning kickoff time also would allow those OU supporters who are also U2 fans more time to return to Norman before the Irish band appears at Memorial Stadium on Oct. 18.

I hate that kick-off time!!!!! Anyone who has been to the game knows that it is a horrible time, for a myriad of reasons.

I agree arby. I don't understand this at all. I wonder if they had problems in the parking lot with tailgaters in the past?

NO! NO! NO! 11AM start times is TERRIBLE for this game. To say that it "allows OU fans more time to return to Norman for the U2 concert" is REDICULOUS. Norman is 2.5 hours from Dallas and the concert is SUNDAY night. How much time do we need? This game should ALWAYS be at 2:30. ABC can still nationally televise it at 2:30 and make the regional game start at 11.

Way too early for this game, I have to wake up so early after a Friday nite of parties to make it to Boren's brunch, but with 11am game time, its now a breakfast.
My prediction of the score OU 45 TX 35. And I might add, on a neutral field.
BOOMER.

I may have found the answer. USC is at Notre Dame on the same day.

Yup this is the WORST time possible for this kickoff. NO football game needs to be played at this time. What a joke. This always makes for a logistical nightmare around the Cotton Bowl. Who likes getting up this early for a game?
I hope this isn't necessarily set in stone.

That will give Texas fans at the Cotton Bowl more time to laugh at the loser Sooners after the game's over. Last year there was such a rush of crimson high-tailing it through the exit gates, it created a breeze (this was BEFORE the game was over).

I like this time. That is 5 PM for me. The late games really kill my party time. Primetime is a 2 AM start time.

ABC will "most likely" make the game a national telecast? Like they were considering not making it a national telecast? When was the last time it wasn't? Definitely too early though for the people attending.

Stop crying about this game is too early. It would have to be a OU or Texas fan crying about this.

I don't know when stating an opinion became crying. And I'm not sure who else would be opposed to the time. Did you expect to see a K-State or Michigan or Georgia fan upset about the OU-Texas start time? The game is among the top 2 or 3 biggest games of the college football regular season and should not begin in the morning. That's all.

If USC is at Notre Dame as you say 57 Nomad, all we have to do is get someone at ND to invite President Obama to the game and ND will cancel it, then OU can play at the appropriate time.
LOL!!
