Oklahoma State guard Andrea Riley is coming off an All-America season. The 5-foot-4 guard scored a career-high 45 points to help the Cowgirls snap their string of 17 consecutive losses to in-state rival Oklahoma. Riley and her teammates have been working out in Stillwater in anticipation of building on last year's 27-8 record and Sweet Sixteen appearance.

How is your summer going?

It's pretty good. We've been working out. I like working out in the morning. It's horrible working out later when it's so hot.

Have you done anything exciting?

My birthday is Tuesday. I'll be 20. I want to have a party.

Will you go home to Dallas anytime soon?

Actually, we're off starting Thursday and I can't wait to go home.

Any plans?

I'd love to go to the Dallas Cowboys training camp. My Dad works for the Cowboys, and I'd love to go training camp. Hopefully, I'll get to go to the game with the (New Orleans) Saints. I like Reggie Bush.

Looking forward to Mom's home cooking?

Definitely. My favorite meal is chicken drumettes and nachos.

Now that you've had some time to reflect on last season, what are your thoughts on the season?

We had so much chemistry and heart. We really worked hard to prove everybody wrong on how good we would be. I think we accomplished that. I think opponents have a new respect for us. But that was last year. We aren't looking back. We're building on the future. But it was pretty great going to the Sweet Sixteen.

You scored 45 points without a turnover against Oklahoma. Can it get any better than that?

I think so. I've dedicated myself to outworking everyone else. It was fun, I remember that. But I couldn't have done it without my teammates. I had a great supporting cast.

How good can the Cowgirls be in 2008-09?

I think we have a chance to be really good. I definitely think we can be better than last year. We'll miss Danielle (Green) and Maria (Cordero). They were a big part of our success last year. We have to have the mindset to outwork everyone.

Which teammates have you been impressed with in summer workouts?

I think Taylor (Hardeman) and Kristin (Hernandez) have both improved so much. Taylor is not afraid to do what she knows how to do. She's also going to the basket more. Kristin is gaining a lot of confidence.

Can OSU make a third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament?

Oh yes, definitely. There's no stopping us. We can only stop ourselves. We brought in players who are competitive. We're working hard to change this program around. We are determined to bring a national championship home.

How important was it for this program to get to the Big 12 title game last year?

It was very important. I don't think anyone in the league thought we would be in the title game. We were happy we made it, but we wanted to win. It was another step for us.

Do you see your role changing this year?

I have to take on a bigger role as a leader. I did some last year, but I have to be more vocal.
