Offense: B-

Problems inside the Washington State 10-yard line forced OSU to settle for three field goals. Kendall Hunter rushed for 107 yards and scored twice. Zac Robinson was 20-of-27 passing for 193 yards. The Cougar defense was determined not to let Robinson get big plays on the ground, and he managed only 11 rushing yards. With seven catches for 90 yards, OSU wide receiver Dez Bryant was the game's offensive MVP.

The Cougars were held scoreless until the 5:46 mark of the third period. Brandon Gibson, Washington State's All-Pac-10 wide receiver, had six catches but for only 53 yards. Cowboy end Derek Burton and tackle Jeray Chatham teamed to drop Cougar running back Dwight Tardy for a safety. Cowboy inside linebacker Orie Lemon totaled 10 tackles and safety-linebacker Andre Sexton had nine. Washington State mustered only 196 total yards and only 3.3 per play.

Special teams: A+

OSU's Perrish Cox scored on a 90-yard kickoff return. Dez Bryant had a 42-yard punt return that led to a field goal, and Ricky Price had a 68-yard punt return that also led to a field goal. Dan Bailey was 3-of-3 on field goals and 4-of-4 on point-after attempts. Matt Fodge averaged 43.5 yards on four punts.
