Bedlam ticket watch
By Staff Reports

Last Modified: 11/26/2008 3:54 AM
One of the biggest games of the college football season likely will be played in front of thousands of empty seats.
Third-ranked Oklahoma plays 11th-ranked Oklahoma State at 7 p.m. Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium in the annual Bedlam grudge match.
Single-game tickets aren't for sale.
Fans who want to attend Bedlam have to purchase a season ticket or have access to the 5,000 tickets provided to the University of Oklahoma.
The cheapest season ticket available is $294 for an end-zone seat.
For ticket information, call (877) 255-4678 or go online to

.
Oklahoma State announced its controversial ticket policy in January and has steadfastly held to it.
As of Tuesday, here's a ticket count:
Season tickets sold:
39,716
Tickets to OU:
5,000
Passes:
Approximately 2,000
Total:
46,716
Stadium capacity:
60,000
Approximate seats remaining:
13,300

Spend millions expanding a stadium from 50,000 to 60,000; sell 39,000 season tickets which apparenly is up about 6,000 from previous year. Let 13,000 seats sit empty. Let's see, that is around 1,300,000 dollars lost at $100 per ticket.
An astute business plan; let's do it again next year.

Bruinsooner: Unfortunately all tickets don't sell for $100 dollars. Some more than and some less than. You have to consider the total plan that the AD has set forth. It will bring in an estimated million and a half dollars more per game. Hope some day you are able to see inside the complete stadium as it is as beautiful inside as out.

So T Bone, you're saying 13,000 empty seats is ok? The plan is a good one? It is fan friendly? Nice logic.

Finally get national T.V. to come to Stillwater and now you can show them that beautiful stadium with 13,000 empty seats. Nice.
Tex Tech, Texas, OU, games all sold out and max. crowds.

Would someone please explain to Kevin Klintsworth that Oklahoma State is a public University supported by TAXPAYER funds. His salary is paid the same way. Mr Klintsworth has a Fiduciary responsibility to sell the 10,000 empty seats for the OU game. It is not his money to play with and he has a duty to maximize the income he is supposed to be bringing in for the University. That is why you are receiving a salary Mr Klintsworth. Mr Klintsworths refusal to perform his job is at best extremely negligent and necessitates his dismissal from Oklahoma State University.
