STILLWATER — Since Oklahoma State's program turned around three seasons ago, the Cowgirls have suffered one seemingly inexplicable loss each season. In one swoop on Sunday, they took a big step toward wiping away the bitter taste of two of those defeats.

Eight days after losing by 14 points at Arkansas-Little Rock, No. 24 Oklahoma State rebounded with its most impressive win of the season, beating No. 19 TCU 85-80 and avenging a lopsided defeat against the Horned Frogs a season earlier.

Andrea Riley had 19 points and 10 assists for her second double-double of the season for Oklahoma State (4-2). Riley and Kristin Hernandez each hit two free throws in the final 24.1 seconds after TCU (8-3) pulled within one.

"That's the best I've felt about a game since the NCAA Tournament," said Oklahoma State senior guard Taylor Hardeman, a starter on last season's squad which reached the tournament's round of 16.

TCU had won four of its previous five games against ranked foes, including wins this season over Maryland and California, both ranked No. 3 at the time. Oklahoma State coach Kurt Budke declared TCU "the best team we've played," a bold statement since the Cowgirls opened the season with a loss at then-No. 8 Duke.

"We all knew this was a big game," Budke said. "In my opinion, TCU is one of the top 10 teams in the country.

Rachel Rentschler scored 18 points and Helen Sverrisdottir added 16 points and six assists for Texas Christian, which managed only six offensive rebounds and committed 18 turnovers. TCU had 11 turnovers or less in each of its previous four games.

Oklahoma State shot just 38.7 percent from the field, compared to 49.1 percent for TCU, but OSU had 18 offensive rebounds and took 75 shots, 22 more than the Horned Frogs.

Oklahoma State blew an 11-point second-half lead and trailed 63-61 with 9:46 left, but Hardeman and Tegan Cunningham each had a 3-pointer in a 12-2 run that put OSU back in front at 73-65 with 6:46 left. Hardeman scored 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting from 3-point range.

TCU closed to 81-80 and had three shots in the final minute to take the lead, but Shayla Moore, TK LaFleur and Rentschler all missed. Hernandez, who also scored 19 points, hit two free throws with 24.1 seconds left. OSU's Melinda Mercado missed a 3-point attempt before Riley sealed the win for the Cowgirls with two more foul shots with 3.3 seconds left.
