The Oklahoma State-Sean Sutton employment relationship officially ended last week, when the university presented a single payment of more than $1 million to the former Cowboy basketball coach.

After two full seasons as the head coach, and with three seasons remaining on his five-year contract, Sutton was forced to resign on April 1.

An OSU spokesman confirmed to the Tulsa World that on Dec. 11, as part of Sutton's contract settlement, the former coach received a final amount of $1,031,173.58.

During the spring, as the first installment of the settlement, Sutton was paid $328,500.

Before taxes, the amount of Sutton's settlement was set at $2,197,460. OSU withheld nearly $838,000 for taxes, leaving Sutton's net settlement at $1,359,673.58. The settlement did not involve any state-appropriated money. It was paid from athletic department funds.

Sutton had been paid $750,000 a year. His head-coaching record was 39-29, with two National Invitation Tournament first-round defeats.

Okfordman, care to break down what Gundy is paid for each win? How about Bob Stoops? Sean had a CONTRACT, OSU broke the contract and had to pay up. That is what happens in the real world of signed agreements. Ford is being paid more than Sutton. So far he's not produced anything more than Sean did.

It was actually a lot more than that. He had a salary during all of those wins too.

Hey Phred, how about we give Ford 2 1/2 years like Sutton had, and then we will see who did a better job.
