STILLWATER — Oklahoma State basketball player Obi Muonelo and Arkansas State first-year coach John Brady passed each other in an interview room doorway.

Said Muonelo, "How are you doing, Coach?"

Responded Brady, "Not worth a (bleep)."

Muonelo is doing way better than bleep. The junior guard produced his fifth double-double this season, collecting 15 points and 14 rebounds in a 76-53 victory at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Muonelo's rebounding total, one shy of a career-high, pushed him over a significant hump.

He now has four more rebounds this season than he did all of last season.

"I guess it shows I got better from last year," Muonelo said. "That's my goal every year is to get better, so I'm happy to hear that."

Muonelo's board work was instrumental Monday night against an opponent that ranks 18th nationally in rebounding margin.

Arkansas State, which outrebounds opponents by 9.2 per game, managed a season-low 27 rebounds and was outrebounded by seven.

The Red Wolves, who rank 12th nationally in scoring defense and 18th in field goal percentage defense, also gave up a season-high point total and allowed an opponent to shoot better than 50 percent from the field for the first time under Brady.

No wonder Brady was in a foul mood.

"Our team wasn't very good tonight and we didn't do anything we needed to do in order to deserve to win the game," he said.

"I was very disappointed in how we tried to play. That's not what we are about and that's not what we have done to this point. We looked tentative. We looked scared. We looked afraid. And it was really disappointing to me."

In preparing for the game, OSU coach Travis Ford stressed rebounding and playing hard. Mission accomplished.

"Our energy and intensity was tremendous to start the game," Ford said. "I thought that was the biggest difference."

OSU allowed ASU to score only six points in the first nine minutes.

The Cowboys led by as many as 16 points in the first half and by as many as 30 in the second half.

Byron Eaton, held without a first-half field goal for the second consecutive game, scored 15 of his 18 points after halftime to lead four OSU players in double figures.

James Anderson scored 16 and Keiton Page came off the bench for 11.

OSU improved to 9-3 this season and 2-0 against Brady over the past two seasons. Brady was LSU's coach last season and suffered an 83-77 loss to the Cowboys at the Maui Classic.

Arkansas State slipped to 9-4 and no starter scored in double figures.

Daniel Bryant came off the bench to lead the Red Wolves with 12 points. Brandon Ayers had 10.
