	Report Comment Mar, Tulsa (9/21/2009 1:33:43 PM) LOL To tell the truth, I don't remember or noticed the old Mascot. I wonder what mascot they had before the 1970's, if they had won. I've got one to top that. I grew up mainly in Coffeyville, KS. Just northeast of Coffeyville is a very small town Cherryvale (pop. 2,300). For years and years their high school team name was the Cherryvale Fighting Cherries. LOL The mascot was changed in 1969 by the high school student council after an overwhelming vote of the student body. Can you imagine being a cheerleader and having to do cheers about cherries? LOL

That is a good point, we aren't located where we get hurricanes and so why is TU called the Golden Hurricane? Are hurricanes golden in color? My high school alma mater (Coffeyville, KS) are the Golden Tornadoes.
