Around The NFL: Bucs on board

The 2008 Detroit Lions can enjoy some bubbly. Thanks to Tampa Bay's 38-28 win against Green Bay on Sunday, the Lions will remain the only NFL team to go through a 16-game schedule winless.

As suprising as Tampa Bay winning was the guy who led the way. Coming out of Kansas State, Josh Freeman was a first-round draft pick in April despite less-than impressive numbers during his college career.

But Freeman made the Bucs' pick look like a wise move in his first NFL start, throwing for 205 yards and three touchdowns, including a pair of scoring strikes in the fourth quarter as Tampa Bay rallied from a 21-17 deficit.

"I felt really relaxed," Freeman said. "I didn't get too high or two low. I can't say I did anything spectacular. I just played within myself, and when we had opportunities I took them."

The Bucs were the last team in the league to win a game this season. Four other teams have a 1-7 record - Cleveland, Kansas City, Detroit and St. Louis.

The loss could be a crippling one for Green Bay's playoff hopes. One week after Aaron Rodgers traded punches with Brett Favre in a shootout, he threw three interceptions, including the clinching pick by Tanard Jackson, who returned it 35 yards for a score with 35 seconds left.

"It's pretty frustrating," said Rodgers, who was sacked six times Sunday and has been sacked 37 times in eight games this year. "I think our offense and special teams put our defense in a tough position."

Tough day for Bears' Harris

Chicago defensive tackle Tommie Harris, who starred at Oklahoma, was ejected from Sunday's game against Arizona after just 65 seconds of play for slugging Cardinals offensive tackle Deuce Lutui.

At the end of an Arizona running play, Harris and Lutui ended up on the ground and a replay showed Harris hitting Lutui near the face.

The Bears got a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and Harris got a quick shower after referee Ed Hochuli announced he had slugged Lutui and was ejected.

Curses: Hall to file complaint

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall says Atlanta coach Mike Smith cursed at him and a Falcons assistant tried to "get some licks in" during a sideline melee Sunday.

Hall said he plans to file a complaint with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell that Smith "cussed me out" and Falcons director of athletic performance Jeff Fish and others "put their hands on me."

Hall said he was trying to pull teammate LaRon Landry away from the Atlanta sideline after Landry was called for a late hit on Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan. Hall and Landry immediately were surrounded by Falcons players and staff members.

"After that, coach Smith came over to me, talking (expletive) to me, saying they were going to kick my (butt)," Hall said. "I stay in Atlanta during the offseason, so if Mike Smith wants to see me, he can definitely find me."

Kurt Warner of the Cardinals tied a career high with five touchdown passes i

eer victories (125) and became the first player in league history to throw for 40,000 yards in one decade. Reggie Wayne moved past Hall of Famer Raymond Berry and into second on the Colts' career receptions list.

Vick as a Buffalo Bill?

Tony Dungy says Michael Vick could potentially wind up in Buffalo, which he says previously discussed signing the quarterback.

Dungy has served as an adviser to Vick since the Super Bowl-winning coach retired from the Colts after last season. Now a commentator for NBC, Dungy confirmed during the pregame show Sunday night before Philadelphia hosted Dallas that the Bills and Vick "talked originally" when Vick was searching for a team after serving 18 months in federal prison for running a dogfighting ring.

The Eagles signed Vick to a $1.6 million contract for 2009, with a team option for the second year at $5.2 million. But he has played sparingly.

Speaking

"The link between me and Eli is always going to be there. So yeah, it's a little special. Any time you play against a team that won the Super Bowl, it's fun." — Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers after leading a rally to beat Eli Manning and the Giants 21-20."The Patriots' 59-0 rout of Tennessee on Sunday ranked among the worst in league history. It was the largest margin of victory since Los Angeles crushed Atlanta by the same score during the 1976 season.
