Play of the game

On third-and-10 from his own 1-yard line, OU quarterback Paul Thompson threw down the left seam to Jermaine Gresham, and Gresham rumbled 35 yards downfield to spark a 99-yard Sooner drive that ended with Thompson's 3-yard TD pass to Malcolm Kelly.

Player of the game

He couldn't have done it without Kelly's Big 12 title game-record 10 catches, 142 yards and two TDs, but Thompson was good when it counted, completing 19-of-34 passes for 265 yards.

What went right

OU's defense was brilliant in the fourth quarter, stopping the Huskers on a fourth down and intercepting two Zac Taylor passes to end three consecutive drives. The Sooners generated good pressure and never busted coverage. A fumble on NU's first play of the game was turned into a quick Sooner TD. OU had a Big 12 title game-record 5 takeaways.

What went wrong

The powerful Sooner running game was shut down, ganged upon by a swarming and unyielding Nebraska defense. Through the first 30 minutes, the Sooners gained just 13 yards on 10 carries and finished with 42 yards rushing as a team.
