Ada High School linebacker Colton Richardson, who signed with the Oklahoma State football program in February, was arrested Thursday on a complaint of misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

According to Ada police, Richardson was arrested at Ada High School. A police spokesman said he was jailed at about 3 p.m. Thursday and released at 9:30.

Richardson's bio in an OSU publication lists his age as being 19.

It could be late next week before Pontotoc County District Attorney Chris Ross decides on possible charges against Richardson. Ross is involved in a murder trial and says he will not address the Richardson case until the trial has been completed.

During the recruiting process, the 6-foot-3, 195-pound Richardson was rated by Rivals.com as one of Oklahoma's top 30 overall prospects.

Thank God he's white and going to OSU or the usual racists would be heavy on attack.

I'm shocked and horrified to see that 19-year-olds in Oklahoma smoke Wacky Tobakky. Was Merle lyin'?

Seriously, though, what are the penalties in Oklahoma? Out here in California, if he had less than a certain amount on him (not sure what the "legal" limit is) he'd be facing nothing more serious than a traffic ticket, and the school would probably still take him, if he promises not to do it again. How will Oklahoma likely deal with him?

Golden Driller, you need to change your name to Mr. Positive or GoldenSpooner since you're always sooooo positive with your comments.

It's not like he was selling it to high school students...well he may have been...but my point is he is a student at the high school, and high school students smoke pot...they do it a lot of times at school. Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about. Slap on the wrist, go tackle somebody, we all win.

Look who wants to throw stones...settle down Mr.Flintstone,They dont have to worry about this,Im talking the ones who want to see that our teams are run in the ground.Misdemeaner tells me it was little to none,or something that can be tied to it such as a cigerate paper, but you can bet you mothers boots that they will run this in the ground and his career is so gone, just ask Mike Phelps what its done to him...but by gosh lets throw the ones that might try some of this under a loco motove, but let us be dependant upon forien oil and goods.Yep,let us rejoice in the fact that we are soooo into tooting our own whistle that the greens not only for your dirty pockets or for the little stripped pants who go clubbing, trying to make an eagle, while the wife meets the construction worker outside of the bootytique while she shops and the kids got more than the neighbor lady can stand cause he or she has some green running down their face and she's wiped it til she about to puke...probably ate some creamed peas and it will look like shes on the verge of slinging up green stuff everywhere and carving out helpppp meeee on her guts, but hey let us again brothers and sisters rejoice in the fact that we condemn young people who have done what many have done before them.Let us say we should send him to the pokey and ruin his career, thats sense alright, nothing has changed it all remains the same.

Does anyone else notice that many of the folks who think this kid should have the book thrown at him for not strictly following the rules are also the same people who defend the Bush administration for using torture?

He should get a pass. I believe in second chances. He is pretty small for a linebacker though. 195 lbs??

Does anyone else notice that Willard is trying to compare possession with plotting terrorist attacks? Brilliant Willard, stick with the weather.

So What? Betcha if somebody took the time to do the stats there's more trouble with a case of 3.2 than an oz of weed.

What an idiot. I hope we pull his scholarship.

I'm tired of kids with all of the talent in the world screwing up and acting like fools. You'd think mom and dad would have given him the "you can still screw this up" talk.

Driller, I think I would worry about OU's own recruiting problem kids.

Goldendriller is known for making remedial comments. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't feel so good about my own life. Thanks Driller! Keep the ineptitude coming!

On the actual topic, situations like this should always be handled on a case to case basis. The coaches need to talk to the kid and gauge how remorseful he is about what happened. Time will tell how all of this plays out.

Pull his scholarship? Talk from mom and dad? Yeah we all know how well our teenage boys listen to our words of wisdom. Please. He's hardly Prentice Elliot and he's on what, his 4th chance? Community service and move on. And no drinking and posting missy.
