Houston receiver commits to OSU

 Kevin Johnson, a wide receiver from Cypress Ridge High School in Houston, announced on Thursday his commitment to the Oklahoma State football program.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Johnson is rated by Scout.com as a three-star national recruit and is the 10th prospect on OSU's 2010 commitment list. Verbal commitments are non-binding. Recruits may sign national letters of intent in February.

Johnson reportedly had been offered a scholarship by more than a dozen schools, including Arizona, Arkansas, Texas Tech, Baylor, Kansas, Utah and Syracuse.

"I got tired of the recruiting process," Johnson told GoPokes.com. "It was overwhelming. It was great for a while, but it had gotten overwhelming.

"I'd just come to the conclusion that Oklahoma State was the best place for me."

As a junior last season at Cypress Ridge, Johnson had 45 receptions for 690 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Of the 10 players on OSU's commitment list, eight hail from Texas high schools. The only Oklahoman is Sand Springs quarterback Johnny Deaton.
