Oklahoma's Dominique Franks and Oklahoma State's Perrish Cox are among 31 players listed on the preseason watch list for the Jim Thorpe Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top college defensive back.

Franks is a junior cornerback from Union High School. He scored two touchdowns last season, one on a fumble return and one on an interception return.

Cox, a senior cornerback from Waco, Texas, also is a standout special teams player. He leads all active FBS players and holds Big 12 and OSU records with four career kickoff returns for touchdowns. He needs just 110 kickoff return yards to set the Big 12 career record.

The Jim Thorpe Award is presented by the Jim Thorpe Association in Oklahoma City. The preseason watch list was unveiled Thursday by ESPN.

A screening committee will narrow the list of candidates to 10 or 12 semifinalists and candidates will be judged on performance, athletic ability and character.

Three finalists will be invited to attend the ESPN College Football Awards Show and the winner will be announced during the show. The formal presentation of the Jim Thorpe Award is in Oklahoma City in February.

Boomer!! Hope Franks has a good enough year to win it. If he does, we will have won a bunch again this year.

Taylor Mays will have to have a terrible year for our boys to have a shot at it

This is the season that Perrish will shine. He needs just 110 kickoff return yards to set the Big 12 career record. He'll make a statement this year! GO POKES!
