Basketball: NSU men win

Northeastern State used a 13-0 run midway through the second half and 29-of-39 free throw shooting to defeat Southern Arkansas 61-53 on Monday at W.T. Watson Athletic Center in Magnolia, Ark.

Morlon Burnett led the RiverHawks (2-1) with 22 points. Jason Jones, who hit 15-of-17 free throws, added 19, and Antonie Branch scored 10. Dade Sanchez led Southern Arkansas (2-1) with 15 points.

NSU held a 30-26 lead at the half, but Southern Arkansas quickly scored four points to pull even. After the Muleriders tied the game for the final time at 35-all, the RiverHawks scored 13 straight points to take control.
