Recreation Notebook: For Glen
Glen Lafarlette
By MATT DOYLE World Sports Writer

The name holds a special place in the hearts of all runners around Tulsa and Oklahoma.
Glen Lafarlette was a fixture and tireless supporter of running. He certified many of the race courses in the state and region. Participants and organizers of running events often stated Lafarlette was a pioneer in helping develop Tulsa and Oklahoma road races among the best in the nation. He is on the Oklahoma Running Wall of Fame both for his running and his course measuring.
Lafarlette died three years ago after a long battle with cancer.
But Lafarlette has not — and will not — be forgotten by the Tulsa running community.
On Saturday morning at Mohawk Park, the Tulsa Running Club will honor Lafarlette's memory with the second annual Glen's Run. The 8k run and 3k fun run start at 8:45 a.m.
The race has a special purpose in addition to honoring his memory and work. The proceeds from the race will help support Lafarlette's Memorial Foundation, which is raising money to build a permanent memorial for him at the River Parks.
