For years, it was a lunchtime habit for many pickup basketball players that worked in downtown Tulsa. The names and faces may have changed over the years. But it was a tradition that kept on playing.

With the closing of the downtown YMCA in January, there will be one last game for those noontime warriors. The downtown YMCA is having a "Farewell to Hoops Party" on Dec. 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for all those participants in those lunchtime games over the years. For more information about the event, call the downtown YMCA at 583-9622.

Skaters advance to nationals: Skaters Katherine DeAngelis and Garrett Jensen, both from Tulsa Figure Skating Club, placed seventh overall in the Juvenile Dance Event at last weekend's Midwestern Sectional Figure Skating Championships in Wichita, Kan.

The pair qualified to compete in the same event in the U.S. Junior Figure Skating Championships Dec. 14-19 in Strongsville, Ohio.
