Molly Anderson looks forward to playing Division I softball. The Cascia Hall right-handed pitcher signed with Mercer University, a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference in Macon, Ga.

“The competition is harder, and it’s just the college atmosphere, so I’m excited,” Anderson said.

Anderson was a four-year varsity starter for the Commandos, “a four-year captain and the best overall player Cascia Hall softball has ever had,” head coach Jon Parker said. She batted .423 as a senior while striking out 160 batters. Her 5-12 won-loss record wasn’t stellar, but Parker said she lacked run support with a young team. She allowed 2.20 earned runs per game.

Anderson got noticed playing for the Tulsa Eagles Gold traveling team. She also had offers from Lehigh, Harvard and Villanova, but chose Mercer because she liked the campus and head coach Mike Raynor.
