Stoops: Bradford won't play versus TU

NORMAN — Bob Stoops dismissed any chance Sam Bradford might return to quarterback Oklahoma against Tulsa on Saturday — a date that falls two weeks after Bradford separated his shoulder against BYU — after the Sooners' practice Wednesday.

Two days after OU's 14-13 loss to the Cougars, Stoops speculated that "two to four weeks is what most of these (injuries) have been, and that's what we're looking at in his case."

Tulsa orthopedic surgeon Dr. Brad Boone called Bradford's return for the TU game "probably early" after visiting with OU's medical staff at the time and confirming the two-to-four-week prognosis.

Still, when Stoops refused to provide a progress report Tuesday on Bradford, some wondered if the Sooners were playing coy with their quarterback's condition.

Not so, Stoops said Wednesday.

"Everybody then gets to running away with, 'This is when it'll be, and 'That will be when it'll be.' And 'I got the scoop.' It's just not worth it," Stoops explained when asked about his decision to avoid an update on Bradford. "We're going to wait until he's comfortable with it. Once we know, then we'll say something. We'll see when that is. I'm not gonna even speculate on what that will be."

Landry Jones, who threw for 286 yards and three touchdowns in his first start in place of Bradford last week against Idaho State, will quarterback against Tulsa. Jones was 6-of-12 for 51 yards in the second half against BYU after Bradford was injured.

That was a very quick edit, boys and girls. Next time, check the spelling before you upload it.

I always hope teams from OK win and ignore the trash talk I get from OU fans because I graduated OSU. I was looking forward to a healthy OU/TU game more for TU because I half grew up in Skelly Stadium. No losers in this game.

Have that, America (9/17/2009 10:37:31 AM)
Whats wierd is how stoops isn't talking about how bradford is coming along...

I'd be willing to bet that sam is done for the year. no logical reason why he would come back early and put himself into harms way behind that meable offensive line just to get hurt again before the draft.

i disagree have that...stoops would have likely pulled the redshirt on our other qb and let him play instead of letting the walk on play in the 4th if he knew bradford was done for the season. have faith that he will heal and return for the texax game.

I think I would suit him up any way. TU would shake so hard they would give up 21 points just by seeing him suited.

BOOMER SOONER!!!

Stoops might hold Bradford out against Miami if he doesn't see real improvement in the O Line. shoot for Baylor as Sam's return date. just a thought.

This is two weeks, next wk is open date thats three weeks, Miami will be fourth week. after watching them kick the crap out of a ranked GT team last night, we wont see sam until miami. By then the oline will be settled and the running game will be working.
we are still gonna miss gresham. But we'll be darn good football team, one that can compete with anybody on our schedule!
