NORMAN — Their 33-7 triumph over Baylor not a half-hour old, the Oklahoma Sooners were already being peppered about their next game. Happens every year the Saturday before Texas.

Some were a little more motivated than others in answering.

Asked if his 3-2 team might use the Cotton Bowl as a proving ground, cornerback Dominique Franks said: "Definitely. With them being undefeated, everybody's going to pick them to blow us out."

One of the captains was coldly realistic. Asked if the Sooners could beat Texas by playing as they did against Baylor, defensive tackle Gerald McCoy said: "No. We played well, but there were a lot of little things we gave up that we've got to be better at if we're going to beat a team the caliber of Texas."

Freshman wide receiver Dejuan Miller sounded as though he had already done some homework: "They've got a lot of guys coming back. Sergio Kindle, Earl Thomas, Blake Gideon. They've got a lot of guys that can make plays, a lot of gamebreakers."

Some, no matter how hard they were pressed, played it goalpost-straight.

"Texas is a great team," said defensive end Jeremy Beal. "It's gonna be a great game."

It took a newcomer to admit that some seemed eager to tee it up right now.

"Right after I leave here, that's gonna be on our mind," junior college transfer Cameron Kenney said from the interview room. "Actually, after we broke the huddle after the game, that's when it was. That's the first thing we were thinking about.
We've got to go to sleep on it tonight. Then wake up and be ready to go, think about Texas every day.

"I can't wait. It's gonna be an experience."

Keep Franks on kick return and punt return. His pass coverage sucks.

Anyone know why we're playing the Big 12 Championship game in October?

I knew it. When the Sooners beat top ranked Baylor with Bradford all would be well in soonernation. Now to think we can compete next week in the Cotton Bowl?? LMAO
