OU Notebook: A&M time set

 Fox Sports Net will broadcast Oklahoma's Nov. 14 game against Texas A&M starting at 6 p.m.

It will mark the Sooners' third consecutive evening game.

No. 20 OU (5-3 overall, 3-1 Big 12) visits Nebraska in a 7 p.m. start this week. Last week OU hosted Kansas State in a 6 p.m. kickoff.

Kickoff times for the Sooners' games Nov. 21 at Texas Tech and Nov. 28 against Oklahoma State will be announced in the coming weeks.

Player of the what?: Bob Stoops said he didn't know that quarterback Landry Jones had been named the Big 12's offensive player of the week for his 294-yard, four-touchdown performance last week against Kansas State. Neither did Jones.

"I didn't really even know about it until my dad texted me later on (Monday)," Jones said. "I'm honored. Humbled. It's one of the greater honors, really excited about it. It was pretty cool to hear that."

Jones, who was 14-of-14 on OU's two fourth-quarter touchdown drives, shared the honor with Texas Tech's Baron Batch. Jones also won the honor after his six-TD game against Tulsa.

"I didn't know that," Stoops said. "What is that, two times now in five starts? That's pretty neat. Hopefully there's some young receivers out there in high school looking at that."

Jones leads all college football freshmen QBs with 17 touchdown passes, six more than the next two guys on the list.

Broyles award: With two TD catches against K-State, wide receiver Ryan Broyles has 10 on the season, which
leads major college football. Four players, including Notre Dame's Golden Tate, have nine TD receptions.

Big challenge: Brody Eldridge has done just fine so far in three starts at left guard. But he'll be stepping into new territory this week when he faces Nebraska All-American Ndamukong Suh. Stoops said he likes the 260-pound Eldridge's chances against the 300-pound Suh, and suggests Suh — projected as the No. 1 pick in next April's NFL draft — won't be the only one scouts watch on Saturday.

"It's pretty neat to see all the pro scouts coming in watching tape and just marveling at what (Eldridge) is able to do," Stoops said. "They see him at center, at tight end and at guard. And I tell them go back a couple years and watch him at fullback. He can do a lot."

Eldridge playing all the positions he has is only enhancing his draft stock, Stoops said, "because with a 53-man roster, they need guys who can play multiple spots, and no one can play more than he does."

Injury update: Wide receiver Brandon Caleb is "coming around" from the ankle sprain he suffered against K-State, Stoops said. "Little bit sore. But we'll just see how he goes..."

Also, OU won't expect left guard Brian Simmons "probably not for another couple weeks."

glad to here that he played a great game on saturday. Cant wait to see him next year as the starting Qb after all the time he will have to pratice with the Recivers and the o line

Fox Sports Net can tank as far as I am concerned. My daughter in Denver watched the Kansas State game while in Arkansas we were blessed with Kentucky and that other SEC team.
Zounds and Curses what a bummer.
