Arnaud's return

After missing two games with a hand injury sustained against Baylor, Austen Arnaud is expected to start at quarterback for Iowa State. Arnaud, a hometown hero from Ames High School, is a 6-3, 225-pound junior and responsible for 16 of the Cyclones' 25 touchdowns this season. While he is not a Colt McCoy type who can cut a defense to pieces, Arnaud is talented and protected by an offensive line that has allowed only six sacks in nine games.

Redemption time

Oklahoma State can't afford another shaky performance by its wide receivers. In four games before the Texas contest, there was only one pass drop by a Cowboy wideout. Against Texas, OSU's receivers blew opportunities to make big plays that could have given the Cowboys the lead and momentum. On a third-and-10 play, Dameron Fooks dropped a perfect 15-yard pass from Zac Robinson. After a 17-yard gain, Hubert Anyiam lost a fumble. On a fourth-down play from the Texas 32, Anyiam dropped a pass at the 2-yard line.

Good vs. good

In rushing offense, the Cyclones are 18th nationally at 200.3 yards per game. In rushing defense, the Cowboys are 13th nationally at 99.0 yards per game. Five Cowboy opponents including Georgia, Missouri and Texas were held below the 100 mark in rushing yards. Iowa State's Alexander Robinson is the Big 12 rushing leader. Cyclone QB Austen Arnaud also runs it effectively (434 yards). Iowa State averages nearly 5 yards per rush attempt. If that happens on Saturday, OSU could have problems.
